Spring is here and the urge to try Something New this season is upon us. Many of us dive into a new hair color change. Changing up your hair color can be fun and give you a whole new look, but all the chemicals used can damage your tresses. Whether you want highlights, ombre, or full-throttle fantasy colors, here are three ways to maintain healthy and colored hair!

1. Specified Shampoos & Conditioners

It is important to wash your hair with shampoos and conditioners specifically designed for color-treated hair. These products are designed to hydrate your strand while maintaining the integrity of your color. Look for products that contain moisturizing ingredients. 

2. Protein Is Your Friend

When it comes to colored hair, protein is your best friend because it helps to strengthen your hair! Many of your protein bonds are broken during color processing. In order to replace the protein in the hair, apply a protein treatment to your hair two to three times per month.  Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for using the protein hair treatment, as this will vary among products. 

3. Leave-In The Good Stuff

Be sure to use a leave-in conditioner after every wash. The leave-in conditioner helps seal in moisture, which is usually lacking with color-treated hair.
